Boomtown was definitely the best festival I have ever attended. On arrival there were random car searches before even parking which shows how persistent they were with safety checks to make sure no drugs were coming in (although I saw about 78 baggies on the daily laying on the floor). As we arrived on the early entry the queues weren’t long and we got in smoothly with no issues. There was only 6 of us on the first night but by the next night we ended up with a group of around 30 people as a mixture of people we knew and people we had met. It was utter madness although where we camped was about 45 minutes’ walk away from Sector 6 but we were closer to Bang Hai and the Hidden Woods.

The HILLS were huge due to it being based in a valley but I never expected the hills to be as steep as they were… was missions. The WEATHER was awful, the first day wasn’t too bad but then everyday it was hail storming and chucking it down frequently. Due to us being lazy we camped in the first spot that was good enough which ended up being the sickest campsite (Barrio Loco) as we ended up having the cleanest toilets, food wasn’t too far and even the stages weren’t too much of a walk. The lads who came on the opening day parked in the wrong car park… an H O U R’s walk from where we were camped because they didn’t listen to instructions (TYPICAL)! As soon as they arrived it starting chucking it down and we were all carrying their stuff (luckily I only had a pillow and a chair) but we got SOAKED and it was annoying because I was wearing my only pair of trousers which led me to freeze the rest of the week.

Usually I’m not able to see all the acts I want to but because the group I went with were original skankers it made my boomtown experience amazing, I saw everyone I wanted to and more that I didn’t even know were attending! The light shows from the acts who I saw were incredible, especially Chris Lorenzo’s set alongside the fire show that Andy C (special guest) created.

Psy Forest is known to have crazy scenes but it was nothing compared to the trippy atmosphere that Tribe Of Frog created as they went extra, even the trees had colour changing branches that you could dance with. The town in boomtown was well thought out with different hidden raves, activities going on such as limbo, paid actors doing weird things (such as dressing in wedding dresses running around screaming), different themes throughout really boosted the effect it left on everyone. Would be rare for everyone to see the exact same things due to how much was going on at once.

So there’s a summary of my Boomtown experience, these photos will give you more insight to how mental it really was:
